What do you mean when you say "then emerge the software as normal" after the ebuild? What software do you mean, and isn't the ebuild the emerge (without the fetch from the server)?
I mean run "emerge nvtuner". Copying the ebuild, conf and init files to their locations is like acquiring any other ebuild when syncing. Putting the source tarball in the distfiles dir is what happens when you run the emerge command and it downloads the file. Running the emerge command is what actually compiles and installs the software.
Long story short: Put all the files where it says toRun ebuild $place_you_put_the_ebuild digestRun emerge nvtuner That should do it. Get back to me if you have any more problems.
Hmm, what to do if one does not have a /proc/pci ? Bought an LE today and unlocked it fine under XP, but I prefer playing my OpenGL games under Linux if possible. However, I have no clue as how to find the required address now :/
No /proc/pci? Well, you could recompile your kernel with the proc filesystem enabled. If you don't want to recompile, then you can run lspci -v and look for the memory address for your card in there. Just remember to put 0x on the front of the address, as the output from lspci -v misses it off.
I'm also planning to take a look at the nvclock software to see if I can hack together a way for the software to find the required memory address itself. |
